At Aveda Institute Provo, we’re committed to making your education as accessible as possible. For a limited time, we’re offering a Scholarship Match Guarantee—so you don’t have to choose between schools based on cost alone.

How It Works

If you’ve been awarded a scholarship directly from another beauty school, Aveda Institute Provo will match that award—up to $2,500—to help you take the next step toward your future in beauty and wellness.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Scholarship Match Guarantee:

  • The scholarship must be awarded directly by another beauty school (third-party aid is not eligible)
  • The scholarship must be for the same program of study you plan to enroll in at Aveda Institute Provo
  • Documentation of the scholarship offer must be provided at the time of enrollment

Important Details

  • Matching funds are limited to a maximum of $2,500
  • Offer is valid for contracts signed between May 20, 2026 and June 30, 2026
  • The scholarship may be applied to any program start date in 2026
  • This offer cannot be applied retroactively to previously signed enrollment contracts

The Beauty Changes Lives scholarship portfolio includes tuition scholarships for aspiring hairstylists, nail professionals, estheticians, makeup artists, massage therapists and barbers. In addition to “basic” scholarships, Beauty Changes Lives offers “advanced” scholarships for licensed professionals, including beauty educators. Since its inception, Beauty Changes Lives has awarded more than 500 scholarships, opening doors of opportunity that range from working behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week, to opening thriving businesses.

History of the Scholarship Award

Aurie Gosnell once said, “I had a dream, and that dream came true and is still happening.”

As the first appointed President of NIC in 1968, Aurie envisioned something bold: a truly national cosmetology examination that would unite states across the country through one shared standard of excellence.

In 1969, she brought this dream to the NIC conference in Hawaii. Thirteen states immediately recognized the power of her vision and joined her in supporting a national testing program. With determination and collaboration, Aurie partnered with the Psychological Testing Corporation of New York and Milady Publishing Company, and in 1970, the very first national cosmetology exam was born.

That spark grew into the strong, respected national organization we are today.

Aurie continued to shape NIC for decades, earning the title of Coordinator of Testing Emeritus in 2002 and serving as a lifetime member who generously shared her wisdom with the NIC Executive Board and the Members. Her leadership, passion, and unwavering belief in elevating the profession continue to inspire us.

To honor her extraordinary legacy, NIC proudly carries her spirit forward through the Aurie J. Gosnell Scholarship Award, a tribute to her vision, her dedication, and the countless professionals whose lives she helped shape.
