Enrolling in beauty school is exciting. It is the first step on your journey to an exciting, creative career. However, many aspiring students worry about how they’ll be able to afford it. Fortunately, there are many resources available to help students meet the financial needs that cosmetology school requires.
At Inspire Greatness Aveda Institutes, we want everyone to have the chance to make their dreams come true, which is why we offer a team of financial aid representatives to help you understand your payment options for our beauty school programs.
FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It’s a free online form that students in the U.S. complete to determine their eligibility for financial aid—including federal grants, student loans, and work-study programs—to help pay for college or career school.
While we are not currently offering in-house scholarships, we believe in supporting every student’s journey and want to connect you with valuable external scholarship opportunities. Below are a few reputable organizations that offer scholarships specifically for beauty school students:
Beauty Changes Lives
Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2013, Beauty Changes Lives awards scholarships funded by top beauty brands. Their offerings include tuition assistance for aspiring hairstylists, estheticians, nail professionals, makeup artists, massage therapists, and barbers—as well as advanced scholarships for licensed professionals and educators.

You will first need an FSA ID to fill out a FAFSA form. Click here to obtain an FSA ID. After you create your FSA ID click here to fill out your FAFSA form.
You will need the school ID of your campus of interest when filling out your FAFSA form.
After completing your FAFSA you will receive an email confirming your successful submission. Your FAFSA takes 3-5 business to process and reach the school. Once it has been received, you will be contacted by your admissions representative to schedule a review.
You are independent if one of the following applies:
You must meet one of the requirements (listed above) to be considered an independent student. If you do not meet one of those requirements, you are considered dependent, regardless of what is listed on your taxes.
If you will be married before your class begins, wait to submit your FAFSA until you have your marriage certificate. If you are getting married after your class begins, submit your FAFSA as you would single and our financial aid team will help with corrections once you have received your marriage certificate.
If you are a dependent student (meaning you do not meet any of the requirements listed above), a parent or legal guardian must sign your FAFSA for it to be accepted.
Unless you are both unaccompanied and homeless (meaning you’re not living in the physical custody of your parent/guardian and lacking fixed, regular, and adequate housing*), the answer to this question is “no”. If you answer “yes”, you will be required to provide documentation of a homeless youth determination from an eligible agency.
*Adequate housing includes apartments and rental units.
You will be able to schedule an appointment with our financial aid advisor once your FAFSA has been accepted to review what you qualify for. In order to know how much you qualify for, we will need to know your start date and schedule. Keep in mind this does not mean you are required to start in that class and may change your start date and schedule if needed.

The objective of a financial planning appointment is to go over financial aid eligibility with students, including thorough explanations of differences between funding sources. In the event that financial aid does not fully cover tuition, this meeting provides us an opportunity to go over options in how students can cover their remaining balance owed to the school. We want students to leave these meetings feeling confident in knowing all of their options, and knowing that we are a resource for them.
