Day and Evening Programs
Inspire Greatness Aveda Institutes gives students options with esthiology programs available during the day and evening at different campuses. The programs combine traditional, in-classroom instruction with some distance learning, with multiple start dates throughout the year.
We break these programs into phases based on what students learn and how they apply it with hands-on training. The hours and weeks for each phase may vary depending on the requirements to complete the program, plus holidays/missed time. The option for distance education might also alter. In general, phases for AM and PM programs will involve:
AM Phases
Phase One
This phase covers esthetics fundamentals and key professional skills like time management, ethics, sales, interpersonal relationships, disinfection/sanitation, and safe work practices. Students develop knowledge of state laws, regulations, and safety requirements and get hands-on training. Topics introduced during this phase include:
- Facials
- Facial and body waxing
- Makeup application
- Body treatments
Phase Two
Students leverage the knowledge and skills they learned during the first phase for practical training on the clinic floor. They learn how to operate efficiently in a workplace setting while developing an understanding of the business of a spa, such as client retention and retail sales. Students also prepare for state board licensure.
PM Phases
Phase One
The first phase introduces students to esthetics fundamentals, including facials, facial and body waxing, makeup application, and body treatments. Students also develop professional competencies like time management, ethics, sales, interpersonal skills, disinfection/sanitation, and workplace safety. These first 300 hours have students combine their knowledge of state laws, regulations, and safety requirements with hands-on experience to prepare them for careers as licensed estheticians.
Phase Two
This phase builds off the training in the first phase, with students applying techniques on the clinic floor. It emphasizes efficiency while giving students practical experience with guest retention and retail sales. Altogether, students develop an understanding of the business of a spa. They also prepare for state board licensure.
