Day and Evening Programs

Inspire Greatness Aveda Institutes offers day and evening class schedules for the master esthiology program, making it easier for more students to further their education. Programs are broken down into phases that emphasize different aspects of your training. The hours involved with each phase may fluctuate based on overall program needs and holidays/missed time. The general outline includes:

AM Phases

Phase One

Students learn esthetics fundamentals, including facials, facial and body waxing, makeup application, and body treatments. This phase also focuses on important professional abilities like time management, sales, interpersonal skills, disinfection/sanitation, and workplace safety. Students gain hands-on experience while learning about state laws, regulations, and safety requirements.

Phase Two

This phase has students put the skills they gained in the first phase to practice on the clinic salon and spa floor. It emphasizes efficient operation in a real-world work setting. Students gain practical experience in the business of spas and learn the importance of client retention and retail sales. This phase also prepares students for state board licensure.

Phase Three (297 Hours)

This phase introduces students to the medical side of esthetics. In addition to technical skills, this phase continues to build their professional skills. Students use their understanding of state laws and regulations for esthetics and increase their hands-on experience on the clinic floor. Medical topics and techniques covered include:

 

  • Advanced anatomy and physiology
  • Advanced skin typing
  • Theory on lasers
  • LED light therapy
  • Microdermabrasion
  • DermaSound Elite
  • 9-in-1 facial machine
  • Full body waxing
  • Body treatments
  • Image Skincare medical products
  • Hydrofacials

 

Phase Four (309 Hours)

Students leverage the knowledge and experience gained from the previous phases for hands-on learning on the spa clinic floor. They practice a range of medical esthetics, including LED light therapy and microdermabrasion, and use various types of equipment, like DermaSound Elite, 9-in-1 machine, and how to perform a be certified in Hydrofacials, and the GlyMed medical product line. It builds on their experience in the business of a spa by deepening their understanding of guest retention and retail sales. It further prepares them for the state board exam and licensing.

PM Phases

Phase One (300 Hours)

This phase introduces students to the fundamentals of esthetics, covering topics such as anatomy, chemistry, physiology, and histology of the skin and facials. Students gain professional competencies like time management, ethics, interpersonal skills, sales, disinfection/sanitation, and workplace safety. It combines theoretical knowledge of state laws, regulations, and requirements with hands-on training.

Phase Two (300 Hours)

 

Continuing in esthetics fundamentals, this phase has students using the knowledge and experience they gained for practical training on the clinic floor. They use their understanding of state laws and regulations to ensure safety, plus work on operating efficiently in a workplace setting. They gain experience with client retention and retail spas, enhancing their knowledge of the business of spas. Technical skills this phase covers include:

 

  • Electrotherapy facials
  • Facial and body waxing
  • Makeup application
  • Manicures and pedicures
  • Body treatments
  • Lash Extensions
  • Lash Lifts and Brow Laminations

 

This phase also builds on the professional skills introduced in the first phase.

Phase Three (300 Hours)

This phase introduces aspects of medical esthetics. It goes more in-depth with topics like advanced anatomy and physiology, plus introduces techniques like advanced skin typing, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Students also learn to use GlyMed Plus skin care medical products. Their professional skills like time management, safe workplace practices, and ethics continue to grow during this phase. Students build more practical experience on the clinic floor, continuing to leverage their knowledge of state laws, regulations, and safety requirements.

Phase Four (300 Hours)

Building off phase three, this phase dives further into medical esthetics. Techniques covered include:

 

  • Theory on lasers
  • LED light therapy
  • DermaSound Elite
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Body treatments

 

Students conduct a clinical trial project that exposes them to GlyMed Plus skin care products and Aveda Facial Treatment Protocols. Besides using various techniques on the clinic floor, students also increase their professional skills. Students grow their experience in guest retention and retail sales, enhancing their understanding of the business of spas. This phase also helps prepare them for the State Board exam and licensing.

What You Will Learn in Our Master Esthiology Program

Success as a master esthetician requires a deep understanding of medical esthetics and practical experience. The curriculum for our master esthiology program covers the wide range of techniques and related skills you’ll need as you take the next step in your career.

Facial and Skin Care

Delve into the history of esthetics, master esthetics, and chemistry of esthetics. Gain experience with the implements and tools that master estheticians use, including advanced mechanical and electrical devices. These courses cover facial treatments, advanced chemical exfoliation, skin treatments and masks, aroma treatments, lash and brow tinting, and different approaches to facial massage.

Treatments

In these courses, students learn services they will perform in their careers, including dermaplaning, microneedling, manual lymphatic drainage, and microdermabrasion. They also cover common treatments like manicures, pedicures, and eyelash extensions. Students are exposed to Aveda product systems.

Clinic Floor, Disinfection, Sanitation, and Safe Work Practices

Gain insight into maintaining a safe and sanitary clinic with these courses, which cover bacteriology, infection control, and sanitation. Students also will build business skills, covering time management, retail sales, guest relations, and clinic setup. Students set themselves apart with courses detailing Aveda rituals.

Laws, Rules, and Regulations

Learn to comply with state laws and requirements. These courses discuss aseptic procedures and techniques, disinfection and sterilization, and mitigation of health risks. Understand malpractice liability and tax laws, plus review for the esthetics exam.

Facial Massage

An additional 90 hours of courses dive deeper into the techniques and approaches to facial massage.

Facial Makeup

Students learn key concepts to create stunning makeup. Courses cover color theory and artificial lash tinting. They explore the differences between contoured and natural applications and subtle and dramatic applications.

Nail Care

Learn advanced approaches to manicures and pedicures. Courses teach students about the anatomy of the hands and feet, how to identify diseases and disorders, and massage techniques for the hands, arms, and feet.

Management, Ethics, Interpersonal Skills, and Salesmanship

These courses help students prepare for their careers. They cover time management, communication, salon management, and similar professional skills. Gain confidence for the job search with training in interviewing and resume writing. Courses also cover how to approach industry events like hair and makeup shows/competitions.
