Last Wednesday, the Aveda Institute Tucson was proud to welcome Mrs. Green for a visit! Mrs. Green, aka Gina Murphy-Darling, is “green royalty” in my book and also a great friend of the Institute. As creator and voice of Mrs. Green’s World Radio Network, “Mrs. Green offers simple, creative ways to adopt green habits that benefit individuals, families and companies, and are good for the planet.” She was a VIP at our Grand Opening and has featured Inspire Greatness Aveda Institutes’ fearless leader/owner, Dale Lemonds, on her show. You can find out more about Mrs. Green and subscribe to her podcast here.
During her visit, Jacquie Rinder, AIT Cosmetology Team Lead and Aveda Certified Color Coach, and I prepped Mrs. Green with hair and makeup for a promotional/branding photoshoot. Check out the photos below to see the gorgeously green finished look!
Oooh la la! Jacquie started by adding foils to highlight and brighten Gina’s face. She also retouched her base color and finished with an all-over gloss for a warm caramel glow. (BTW, did you notice only reusable water cups on Jacquie’s station?)
To style, Jacquie combed through a dime-sized amount of Confixor to Gina’s towel-dried hair to hold her curl. She then blew it dry with a diffuser.
Jacquie used Air Control hairspray and Brilliant Spray-On Shine to finish Gina’s look, giving flexible hold and photo-worthy shine.
Aveda skincare is the best “primer” for flawless makeup. These are my go-to products for when prepping a model’s skin for a photoshoot. (Not pictured: Pure Comfort Eye Makeup Remover and Lip Saver)
To create a cohesive makeup look and harmonize with her hair and skin, I used a warm makeup palette. To define Gina’s brows, I used the define color of the Petal Essence Eye Color Trio in Copper Haze. Brows are the frame of the face and flash photography will wash color out, so I made them slightly bolder than I would for a day-to-day look. I let Gina know ahead of time so she would not be shocked, but assured her she would see the positive difference in the finished photos. Very important to note, especially to brides!

Mrs. Green is ready for her close-up! Keep an eye out on her website for the final photos. What a great green day at Aveda Institute Tucson!
